School 13 of the Amazon Guardian Schools Network

The rivers here and the rivers thereMolins de Rei, 2026-2027

Escola Castell Ciuró, in Molins de Rei, joins the Amazon Guardian Schools Network (the AGSN) in October 2026, with its Year 4 pupils.

It is the second school in Molins de Rei in the network, after Escola El Palau. The town has supported the project for years: the council is one of the funders, and the exhibition «Poble Puyanawa» was shown twice at the El Molí library.

Castell Ciuró is twinned with the Escola Estadual Rural Indígena Pedro Antônio de Oliveira, the school of the Nukini people, in the state of Acre.

What they are already working on, seen from the Amazon

The Network does not add a new topic: it comes in through what the class already has in hand.

  • The counties, the relief and the rivers of Catalonia — what they are covering this term. Alongside them, the Amazon river, and the flying rivers: the mist the forests send up, which ends up falling as rain thousands of kilometres away.
  • The tree they adopt every year — this year, the pomegranate tree. What it means to be the guardian of a tree, and what an agroforest is: a forest that also gives you food.
  • Nutrition, later on — foods that come from the Amazon and are in any kitchen: cassava, avocado, mango.
  • The exchange with the Nukini school — letters and a video call with the pupils on the other side.

The materials are prepared to measure, together with a primary teacher from our team, and can be used on the school’s Chromebooks. At no cost to the school. At the end of the year, the school receives its guardian school plaque.
