Molins de Rei town council announced in its listings a new session of the Hora del conte with «Els Puyanawa i l’Eruga de colors – Hêda Cêkaya», this time told by two voices, Eva Folgado and Adolf Sanz.
It took place on 4 April 2025, from 5.30 to 6.30 p.m., at the El Molí Library, for families with children aged 3 and over, with limited places and prior booking. It was organised by the community action department, the library and Guardians de l’Amazònia, as part of Cooperation Month.

First programme of Ràdio Castanyer , the online radio of the Escola Castanyer in Sant Joan les Fonts, published on iVoox on 19 February 2025. The pupils make it themselves: Year 6 prepares a news magazine, Year 4 presents a story and Year 5 a guide to the town.
The station grew out of a radio and podcast workshop run by Marta Molina (Espurna Comunicació) with Guardians de l’Amazònia, and in this first programme the pupils tell the story of the Puyanawa people and the tale of the colourful caterpillar.

Adolf Sanz took part in the Eutopías podcast, devoted to buen vivir, where he looked back over his work in the Guardians of the Amazon project and talked about the Puyanawa story «The colourful caterpillar».
In the conversation he explained the history of the Puyanawa people and how the story links past and present events of this Amazonian community, a message of resilience tied to the project’s awareness and environmental education work. The excerpt was published as a short video on Instagram, which cannot be watched without leaving this page.

Puyanawa visit

The Escola Guillem de Claramunt, part of the Amazon Guardian Schools Network and a certified «green school», tells on its website about the visit it received on 10 May 2023: Puwe and his daughter, of the Puyanawa people.
The pupils were able to ask them questions and the visitors held a ritual to call for rain, something the school itself says was much needed at the time.

It was held on the ground floor of the El Molí building, with free entry and limited capacity, as part of Cooperation Month and the «Molins de 10» exhibition. Through Vari and the Puyanawa people, the story brings the Amazonian Indigenous worldview and harmony with nature closer. It was organised by the solidarity and cooperation department, the El Molí Library and Guardians de l’Amazònia.

From 7 to 25 June 2021, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Molins de Rei hosted the exhibition «Guardians de l’Amazònia », organised by the town council’s department for community life, citizenship and volunteering.
The show, by the local NGO Guardians de l’Amazònia, was devoted to the customs and traditional way of life of the Puyanawa people, an Indigenous community in Brazil.

The story, based on real events, follows the history of the Puyanawa people: enslaved from the early twentieth century by Colonel Mâncio Lima and stripped of their language and spirituality, today their young people are reclaiming the legacy of their ancestors. Since 2017 the story has been the basis for the exchanges between Catalan schools and the Escola Ixubãy of the Puyanawa people.

Escola Guillem de Claramunt · Mayo 2019
The Escola Guillem de Claramunt explains that Year 4 and Year 6 pupils met Vari and Puwe, leaders of the Puyanawa people, with whom they had exchanged letters and experiences throughout the school year.
The meeting was coordinated by Guardians de l’Amazònia together with other participating schools, with the aim of raising awareness of the urgency of fighting climate change and living more sustainably.

Article from the readers’ section «Entre Tots » of El Periódico, written by Erika Pardo López. It recalls the history of the Puyanawa people, from the state of Acre: enslaved during the rubber boom in the early twentieth century, freed around 1950 and with their Indigenous land recognised in 2001.
It also tells how Year 3 pupils at the Escola La Canaleta in Vila-seca, who were studying climate change, became pen pals with the Puyanawa school, and how the spiritual leader Luiz Puwê and his wife Vari travelled to Vila-seca to spend a day with the children.

It explains to children the history of the Puyanawa, an Indigenous people of the Brazilian Amazon who lost their lands and suffered abuse when people came looking for business in their territory, until they were on the point of losing their culture.
It also tells how today they are reclaiming their language and customs with an album they record and present around the world, and how they want to use the proceeds to rebuild what was taken from them. The video is on the 3Cat website.
